FOR ZION’S SAKE MINISTRIES EMERGENCY AID FOR NEPAL UPDATE II

Israel a light unto the nations

Israel has done it again… sending our best doctors, surgeons and medical staff along with all our own equipment to the ravaged country of Nepal for medical and humanitarian relief. I have witnessed firsthand the Love and Sacrifice these doctors and staff have made in order to produce such a fine tuned response team that has become the envy of the world.

Daily medical teams from many different countries have come to visit the compound in which Israel has erected here in Kathmandu and all were very impressed by the medical facility they saw; I’ve overheard many comments like, “I wish our country could do this” and “wow, China sent 20 people and tiny Israel sent 270 people…”

With over 7000 dead and the death continuing to rise daily as rescue workers are now beginning to finally reach remote mountain village. It will take years to restore the damage the Earthquake has caused.

7.4 Earthquakes Rocks Nepal

Countless homes and building have been destroyed by the 7.8 Earthquake in Nepal

This week’s experiences so far have been unforgettable and the sights, sounds and smells of one who lives through a trauma situation where there are thousands of deaths and hundreds of sick and wounded people all at once is quite hard to describe in words, so I hope these pictures will help explain what we have witnessed…

Always time for each patient

It has also been my honor to serve here at the IDF’s field hospital this week volunteering amongst the 270 IDF army staff. I learned quickly that to be effective, it is best to see what needs to be done and just do it and as result, I was able to work side by side with physicians during surgery which would not be possible in normal circumstances.

I also kept myself busy carrying stretchers, emptying garbage, bringing food and medicine for the patience and assisting the wounded to the different medical tents for treatment such as Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, ICU, X-ray, Gynecology and the Pediatrics dept.

Making friends with a man who had a wall collapsed on him

On Wednesday I will be traveling with a group for 4 hours by bus to visit remote mountain villages in order to distribute food, medicine and blankets purchased from donations given by FZS donors to people who have yet to receive any aid. Please pray for this outreach both for our protection and for divine appointments to share the Good News.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
